My aunt says my husband isn't invited?

So my aunts daughter just died in January and she invited us all to come over in July but she specifically said for girl time. Now I don't have a problem with that except that it is a family gathering in California and I live in nevada, so I will be gone all weekend. My husband is extremely offended that he isn't invited, and so am I. She says she doesn't want him to go because my uncle may then want to come, and none of us like him, including his wife. But, that is an extremely lane excuse because there is no reason anyone would tell him or any other means for him to find out. I understand her needs right now and I want to accommodate her, but I feel it's beyond rude to tell a spouse they aren't invited. I don't know how to proceed from here. I specifically told her he was sad he wasn't invited and she said it was too much to ask and she was sorry but even her own husband wasn't invited.
