Why is the US trying ti stop the Palestinians from going to the UN for recognition of a Palestinain state?

The senate just passed a bill that says all US aid will stop if the Palestionians go to the UN. But Israel is allowed to build Illgal settlements where ever they want, murder Rachel Corey, kill thousands of unarmed civillians, spy on the US, assisinate and kidnap people in other countries, blow up the USS Liberty....... And the US government never says a peep about it.
